There’s not a sport better than hockey (in my opinion). But what would happen if you took hockey, lacrosse, football, baseball and every other sport worth watching & combined them into one? You would get one incredibly bad ass sport most have never heard of. HURLING

I discovered the sport from BLI listener @johngoaliedc. So what exactly is Hurling? Hurling is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic and Irish origin. It is administered by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The game has prehistoric origins, and has been played for 4,000 years.

The # 1 question you probably have is can you drink beer while playing. Did I not just mention it’s a spot of Irish origin? Guaranteed the Irish invented this sport as an excuse to drink more. Most hurlers don’t recommend drinking pre or mid game though. But every hurler can’t wait to get to the “craic”. This is the after party where hurlers go to hurl back pints. It’s basically the whole reason for hurling.  So get out there and give it a try…. and don’t miss the “craic”.
