For Episode 53 of Tendy Talk presented by the BLPA Podcast Network and The Hockey Podcast Network, I chat with FDNY goalie Kurt Pflumm. If you watched ESPN’s coverage of the FDNY/NYPD hockey game prior to the 20th anniversary of 9/11 you saw Kurt backstop the firefighters to a 7-4 win over the NYPD in an exciting game.

Kurt and I talk about his early days of hockey in New York, joining the fire department, finding out the department had a hockey team, and the FDNY/NYPD rivalry. One thing I had to ask though was how he stays focused and ready for the game after warmups when the rivalry game has so much pomp and circumstance, especially this year with the game being played only days before the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the FDNY losing 343 of its own.

Be sure to follow Kurt and his FDNY teammates on social media, and enjoy the episode.
